Becoming the Hands and Feet of Christ in our World Today
By reaching out to the poor, the marginalized, and the powerless, we hope to bring glory to our Father, to love His people well, and to take part in Christ's work of reclaiming the lost.
Young Adults Mission Team - El Salvador - July 17-25, 2009
First Baptist Church Newport News partnered with Iglesia Bautista Horeb (Horeb Baptist Church) in Santa Ana, El Salvador, from July 17- 25, 2009 to help plant a new church in an impoverished rural village called Lobato. A Mission Team of 21 young single adults with Dennis Adams, Minister of Music, Team Leader, sponsored a Vacation Bible School in the mornings and afternoons for children and teenagers. Evangelistic services were held in the evenings for members of the host church and included the team sharing their testimonies, preaching and showing Christian films. The team anticipated ministering to 150 children, teenagers and their families; however, by the last day there were 550 attending the activites. This was approximately 85% of the entire village.
